The race is on

There are only 3 Canadian WW1 vets left, one is 105 and 2 are 106. The last one gets a state funeral, it would be easy to the 105 year old but my money is on the the oldest 106 year old, he's got the winning instinct, the other guys don't have the heart (literally and figuratively) to contend.

I think Cory would agree here- we should more clearly define the actual accomplishments and backgrounds of these geezers-

Do you really want some 106 year old pencil pusher from Kenosha to get this honour from our govt?
Well, maybe.... but maybe not!

I mean, are we just going to award the first schmo to kick it? what has our govt. come to? first, they want to givve Qweebec its own nation-territory-district-provinciamalthingy, now this. Zut alors!

Disclaimer: I have no idea who's from Kenosha, or whositswhatzit. Matlooooooccckkkkkk

Apparently one of the guys wants nothing to do with it since he never actually fought in the war and has been an american citizen most of his life. The other two are still unsure, one doesn't want the attention, the other doesn't want all the focus on just one soldier. Good ol' NDP, full of good ideas that aren't really good ideas.

I think it is a good idea. No matter what the guy who doesn't want this to be all about him says, it *isn't* all about him. It is a symbolic gesture to lay to rest an entire generation of people who served for their country.

The last person I'll be think about is the actual person being given the state funeral.

Don't get me started on the Quebec-as-a-nation retardery though.

man, let's get started on this Quebec as nation/province/district/strange inter earth planet

I saw the headline yesterday & I was literally blown away

But that's the old guys point, if it's his funeral then it's going to be about him, a better idea would be to have something that doesn't give any spotlight to one guy. Otherwise you're just stealing his funeral. And couldn't there be something done while they're alive, why wait until they die. Sorry Phil, your NDP ain't too good with the details.
