Kathmandu

We made it to Nepal yesterday, its very overwhelming and disorienting and intense but we're getting used to it and actually enjoying the strangeness. we've just been wandering around today (happy birthday tom!), its extremely poor and i dont really like seeing the street kids and the dogs (i saw a dog outside our hotel last night that wasnt doing well, and this morning it was dead on the door step) all the buildings in the city look like theyre going to fall down, very few roads are paved...there are cows in the street...they like to sleep in the middle of the road in the mud and the bicycles and rickshaws go around them...and this is the downtown area. there arent many cars except taxis and they constantly blow the horns just to tell people to get out of the way...so theyre pretty loud because the roads are really narrow and they echo alot. we went to some temples today, one had monkeys everywhere, lots of baby monkeys, they're cute! the city is really dirty and polluted and there are some bad smells, usually cow and dog shit...possibly human shit too. its really hot and humid as well. we also get stared at alot and people really like toms beard! overall its pretty fun though just wandering around looking at all the weirdness!! we saw a man cooking a whole chicken with a blow torch. oh and the power gets turned of every night at 930. thats all for now, we'll write more and try and get some pics up soon.

There isn't nearly enough blowtorched food on the go!

Sounds pretty crazy and exciting, keep us posted. :)

Sounds like a more decrepit Albania. The dogs here, although in poor health, continue to live in their terrible state. There's one who lives in the town that I'm staying who has a severely broken leg. I see him daily...It's pretty terrible.

But I hope you guys continue to enjoy the weirdness. Take lots of pics and stay safe!

Happy B-Day Crizbay. We'll celebrate next time we are in the same city... or country... or maybe continent.

Happy birthday, Tom. At least your getting props for your sweet beard. This post was pretty depressing until that little tidbit. I've often thought we didn't need electricity past 9:30.

p.s. It's cold as fuck in St. John's, the rest of the province is warm, even most of Labrador, but we still need the heat on.

I don't know why I put that first comma in there, but I stand by it.
