The following things are somehow realted to Tom's Birthday and Tom and Jill's current voyage in Nepal.Captain Haddock in Tin Tin and the Picaros
Sherpas/ Sherpa People>

I think you guys were meant to go to freaky Bhutan for realz. But in any case, Kathmandu sounds. . .quite unpleasant enough to provide writing material, or at least remarks like "remember my worst birthday ever??!!"
So, in conclusion, Happy Birthday, Tom!!! Hopefully you receive this greeting before they turn the lights out. We look forward to more updates, and for a new year on North American soil!

Thanks for the mad birthday greetings everyone! My facebook wall is worth a visit these days.
Yessir, Nepal is a crazy country. Yesterday we were hanging out in a Tibetan school which was very interesting. The teachers there are friends with monkey lady Jane Goodall!
Most importantly, my thoghts turn today to the birth, life, and living death of one Mike Janez-gamor, soon to be rescued and resurrected? from his indentured servitude to the Labrador school system. Happy birthday to the gas-loving huddler!
*sniff sniff*
Thanks Tom...

damnit, this is Sue's responsibility now!
'Appy birthday, Janesey!!!! I can only assume you will celebrate by watching the Northern Lights on skidoo?
And/or a trike, and/or a bike.
Happy birthday Janesy!
*Sue's job is the cards!*
Happy birthday, Michael! :D
Cards? Though excellent, and obviously much more work than anything digital, the cards were already 'in the cards', so to speak.
Sue, don't make me go and quote the archives.
I challenge you to go through them then, Sir Luke!
I see your challenge, Sue and raise you one direct quote!
An agreement is reached?
Hmmm, Luke, I honestly took that to mean recognizing and celebrating our birthdays by mailing out cards. I didn't realise it was an agreement to start birthday threads in here too.
*shrug* I'll do it from now on though, since I was apparently supposed to all along.

Eh what's the deleted comment?
Just a travel update to put Jacob to shame:
today we had the ol' taxi strike situation. We had to get from a sort of suburban town to the main tourist area. Normally we are accosted throughout the day (at all times) by cabbies. Today however, not only were there only very few on the road, but the first one we tried said he wouldn't take us! Another guy eventually offered to drive us, but it turns out that he was breaking a city-wide strike by taxis and buses! Anyway, he drove us through the back alleys very secretly, until he had to go on the main road to cross into the main part of the city. Here he was stopped by a rowdy group of taxi drivers who were quite furious with his antics! The car was surrounded by yelling taxi drivers-- one guy made his way in and pushed the the guy out-- our driver got pushed around a bit (we stayed cool and acted quite oblivious). Eventually, he convinced them that he would kick us out and return home. So he drove across the intersection and told us we had to walk the rest of the way. We took pity on him and paid the fare, but then had to walk for about 45 minutes. It was both scary and exhilerating in a way that only Janes, surrounded by gaskids, can appreciated, when he has the last baggy of precious gas held lovingly to his own nostrils.
On the walk we saw some more dead dogs, up now to 5 or so, outdoing Jacob's near-dead dog count by quit a bit. Jacob you better bring out the big guns in your next description of the decrepitude of Albania!
Also note that the cabbie described the situation as his "game"-- it was a dangerous game of dodging taxi driver road blocks, garbage piles and assorted hazards.
like puppy speed bumps?
*plugs her ears and hums so she doesn't hear about the dogs*
Sounds like a crazy ride so far, you guys. Can't wait to see you in a month!
