Gavle Goat bites the dust

Apparently Janes discovered on Christmas Eve that the Swedish Yule Goat got burnt crispy.

Too bad we can't seem to time this thing down right and watch it on the webcam.

The site now says:
Web cameras are closed for this year. Gävle goat burned December 27. See you again next year.

Regards
Gävle goat

The Wiki site adds:

2008 10,000 people turned out for the inauguration of one of this year's goats. No reserve-goat was built to replace the main goat should the worst happen, nor was the goat impregnated with flame repellent (Anna Östman, spokesperson of the Goat-committee said the repellent made it look ugly in the previous years, like a brown terrier).[27] On the 16 of December the Natural Science Club's Goat was vandalised and later removed. On the 26 of December there was an attempt to burn down the Southern Merchants' Goat but bypassers managed to extinguish the fire. The following day the goat finally succumbed to the flames ignited by an unknown assailant at 03:50 CET.

Speaking of this goat, the unofficial Yule Goat Committee did indeed form a shed meeting to brainstorm tonight and came upon a few plans.

So, officially, arrive early next Saturday, January 3rd,early afternoon, and we'll make some tamales, play some records, and laboriously construct a wicked goat, which we will thence burn.

Merry Christmas, from Nepal

Finally dug up Mr. Crosbie's postcard from this summer. Too sweet to withheld from the world at large. I believe her look evokes: Namaste, Happy Hanukkah, & Merry Christmas Eve, all in one.

Doğum Günün Kutlu Olsun!

While today is Winter Solstice, the Huddle has a far more important event to celebrate: the birth of our dear Dr. Salama! She turns a beautiful 26 today and the snow is falling heavily in Toronto to mark this special occasion!

It is reputed that Arielle's first cries were actually her singing the #1 hit of the day, which was "Maneater" by Daryl Hall & John Oates. A great song to be born to!

Some of the celebrities who are lucky enough to share Arielle's birthday are Jane Fonda (1937), Frank Zappa (1940), Samuel L. Jackson (1948), Ray Romano (1957), and Kiefer Sutherland (1966). Wow, now THAT'S an A-list line-up!

Of course, we already knew this Tuesday's child was full of grace.

Arielle, many birthday wishes from all of us to you! May twenty-six be your best year yet and may today be full of birthday texts, FB wall posts, emails, Huddle comments, phone calls, hugs, presents, cake, and drinks. And as Frosty the Snowman would say (he's probably walking around somewhere as we speak), "Happy Birthday!"

Someone please explain

For those of you not following the weather in St. John's it is currently 15.4 degrees going down to 0 tonight, -2 tomorrow, 4 on Monday, 10 on Tuesday and -1 on Wednesday. You've also got to hold on to your balls it's so windy out. For those who'll be visiting soon just bring all your clothes, I'm sure you'll need it at some point.

P.S. The title isn't looking to start some conversation on weather patterns or climate change, what I really want to know is why there's no "degrees" button on my keyboard. I'd trade ^ for a degrees button any day of the week.

Hey Rosetta Christmas show

So, Tim's playing a Christmas show at the Rockhouse on December 18 and 19, let's all go.

Jacob kindly agreed to get a couple tickets for me and Josh, and I guess I had the 18th in mind, but I wanted to know what's better for everyone else, so we can all make it together.

The 18th is the night after I get home (a Thursday), and the Friday (19th) might work better for Josh, well, and just-in-case travel scenarios.

Jake, I don't know if you've got on this yet, but either way, I think everybody needs to jump on it, because last year's was sold out at the door.

K, comment away...
