Clarification: Mr. Peanit = Mr. Goober Pea?

Things overheard at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

A few things we overheard at the parade:

Lady 1: Look, it's Mr. Peanit!
Lady 2: Mr. Who?!?!
Lady 1: Mr. Peanit!

Lady 1: Look, it's the Days of our Lifes float!

(Looking at Kermit the Frog and an unknown female singer):
Lady 1: Who IS that??
Lady 2: It's Kermit!
Lady 1: No, who's that next to Kermit??

Anyway, we were standing next to some typically foul tempered and slightly dim New Yorkers. No offense yo!

American Thanksgiving

I had to change the channel because foolish CBS had some weird angle on the Macy's Parade, but then NBC won't stop showing showtunes and I wouldn't particularly mind popping Matt Lauer in the face. But otherwise, Thanksgiving is good. You know, not as good as Canadian Thanksgiving --- the one that comes at harvest time as opposed to a week before Christmas; the one that was originally celebrated in Newfoundland!!!

I suppose we'll get around to telling the story of Canadian Thanksgiving in NYC this Christmas . . . not much to be said, I guess, besides relaying awesomeness: spilled wine by uncontrollable limbs, JanesRage/Anti-JanesRage, a wonderful walk around the Central Park Reservoir, RestaurantRestaurant and fried Oreos, crazy Congee Village, shopping for thanksgiving pizza in Union Square, Tom and Janes being interviewed in the same. Oh, and there were pommes frites, sketchy(at 1am) Bushwick with a great rooftop view, delicious brunch with free mimosas! Oh, now there's some terrible Jonas Brothers want-to-be-band on tv with a red guitar. This is sad, this is no Canadian Thanksgiving in America!

But, things that are not sad: 5 pies waiting to be devoured (2xpumpkin, 1xapple, 2xpecan),
Nina's parents built a new sun room and it has good feng shui.
It's not very cold here and I went on a beautiful bike ride yesterday up and around some hills.

Things to be thankful for!

Return of the Muppets

The Muppets are now online! These videos are hilarious and I thought I'd bring them to you to share. A blast from the past, if you will. At least WE knew how to rock it when we were kids (not like the crap shows on now!)

Enjoy!

Bell Island

Bell Island woman punched at her doorstep

A woman who answered a knock at her door early Thursday received a punch in the face from a stranger, police say.

The RCMP were called to the home on Bell Island, a 20-minute ferry ride from St. John's, shortly after 6 a.m.

The woman said someone knocked on her door a short time before that, and when she opened it, a man punched her in the face and then ran away.

It happened in an area of the island known as the Ridge.

The RCMP brought a police dog to the area to help look for the man, who was described as being approximately six feet tall, and wearing a dark forest green jacket with a hood pulled over his head.

Police said the woman suffered an undetermined facial injury and was shaken up by the assault.

*Cory, as our official Bell Island representative, how would you explain this one?

This Deserves Its Own Post

In a new height of clumsiness/underestimating his personal space/drinking/etc., Tom caught himself on fire at a halloween party last night. It was kind of amazing. I only wish that I had a camera at the ready. Thought you all might like to hear this. And for the record Tom was dressed as Count Chocula at the time. I think his brown velvet sport coat might have been partially to blame. All was well in the end though.
