Spielberg has Seven Crystal Balls

I heard they were filming a Tintin movie, and instantly was afeard. "Blistering Barnackles," etc. etc. I think we're in good hands because Spielberg is involved, but i has me doubts. Case in point:

This 17 year old kid (from Love Actually) is going to play 'our man in Belgium.':

And Andy Serkis as Capt. Haddock:

Can Spielberg not hear the truth? Or does he have a "Broken Ear"? Peter Jackson is involved, so no doubt his New Zealand wizengamot has taken hold of Jaws himself, as i calls 'im.

It's supposed to be partially in 3D, Beowulf style, so mayhaps it'll be deadly.
For commentary: your favourite Tintin book/show is. . .
and Tintin, a better read en Francais, ou Anglais?

for my part I can't remember too many specifics, though I'm pretty sure i've read them all. I'll pick either The Broken Ear, (for super creepiness) or The Crab With The Golden Claws. And while I support the name Milou and Dupont et Dupont, it's just as tight en Anglais.

VFest

Fuck yeah! Just bought a 2-day pass for this year's Virgin Music Festival in Toronto. Oasis, Foo Fighters, Stereophonics, The Weakerthans, Boc Party, Wintersleep, Paul Weller, and that's only who's confirmed so far! This will be the 2nd time seeing Oasis and I'm bouncing off the walls. Gonna be hot in the TDot come September.

leonard cohen disaster

So, me poor parents are out of magic leonard-cohen dust: tickets went on sale today for his show on May 26th at Holy Heart, and evidently sold out in minutes. So they opened up TWO MORE SHOWS on May 27th, and 28th, and mom lost out online and on the phone. Devastation for them. Friends of ours lined up for several hours in order to get tickets and got some, enough for their family, so i guess that was the only real way to do it.

Fair is fair, but the rub is that they were evidently competing against Euros and others scattered all over the globe, not to mention some turd is already selling them on the Newfoundland craigslist. What a bummer. Maybe he'll come to Texas.

Anyone else have luck?

No good news for the treeman.

Apparently the indonesian government won't let treeman go get treatment in the states!

The reason? They don't think people in villages like giving blood.
Sounds like they want to milk this sap for every woody ounce of dignity he's got.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Way to go Tom on going to Yale. I'm still pretty blown away even though Sue told us when she was home last week. I'd also like to congratulate Susan on becoming the new Don Cherry's Wings Champion having eaten 89 wings in one sitting! Maybe next time we'll try to get there a bit earlier Sue so that they don't close before you're finished. In other news, the snow was 95% gone 4 days ago but is now at its highest levels of the winter. It's snowing like crazy out currently and is expected to for the next 12+ hours. At least I finally got a snow day out of it. It's been a fairly dry St. Patricks Day but it is Easter week after all.

Man, Jacob can't win:

Truly disgusting...

Sorry to send this horible knowledge into your lives... but it must be know...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/03/14/film.starwars.ap/index.html

Lucas offered a glimpse into the latest creation in his sci-fi universe at the theater-owners convention ShoWest on Thursday, showing a sequence from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," a computer-animated movie due in theaters August 15. It will be followed by a TV series of the same name, to air on the Cartoon Network and TNT this fall.

Oh snap. I propose a Star Wars marathon with this in its appropriate place, between episodes II and III. And no fucking wimping out this year.

Oh, and Jacob, I hope they have movie theatres in Albania!

Confirmation of News

Well, it's now official, as I've just accepted the offer, that Jill and I will be moving to New Haven!

In related news, we've also been fortunate to have been offered to rent one of the faculty's beach-front condos for the first year we're there! It has two bedrooms, apparently, so we'll be expecting some visitors....?

"those who know are eager to discuss."

Now, some of you may recall Cocobutter ragging on Jabird for not telling us his news in a prompt fashion. In fact, Cocobutter went so far as to claim, "those who know are eager to discuss."

So, let's get some discussion happening!

First off, give us dates Jabird.

Second, we'll mock you like mad fiends for not being around for another classic motherfucking summer.

Third-- that's up to you, Huddlas!

Forget the next dozen!

Hey Chums,

Oh Yes, Fine Young Cannibals never disappeared from the sonic mindscape of the world's true cognoscenti; their sick beats have been brewing in the hinterland of Swedish reggae. So, here's four versions of a peculiar song you might also become partly obsessed with. Let's compare and contrast camera work; production quality; degrees of oddness (but ONE of these is not like the others...):

Good Music

Just wanted to sing the praises of the CBC Radio 3 with Grant Lawrence podcast. I've recently gotten into it and it features Canadian music every week. Also picked up the new Kathleen Edwards CD and it's also quite good. Subscribe through iTunes if interested.

Michael Clayton

Pretty good flick! Not sure Tilda Swinton was impressive enough to win best supporting actress. . . just not much of her in it. But def. a sweet piece of movie making. Plus, we saw it at the 1$ cinemas! Love it.
