Catching up
Hello all, it's been too long since I've posted something but I'm back now so fogetaboutit (as Mickey Blue Eyes would say). I've been surprisingly busy during my layoff mostly with home renovations. This pretty much involves me passing things to Dion but I'm busy none the less. I don't really know what else I've been doing with my 5-10 hours a day of free time, I've hardly watched any movies and have done little reading. Tom, I purchased several Dune books and hope to have them read before your return. I do squeeze in a fair amount of video gaming on my psp and ps3 but not as much as I would like. Watching baseball takes up a good amount of time as does televised darts. I can honestly say the 2006 World Darts Championship final was one of the greatest sporting events I've ever seen. I also spend a lot of time on fantasy football and on betting on football. The football odds come out on Thursdays and I look forward to it all week...I really do. Phil and Sue I know they come out on Wednesdays in Ontario so just zip it! While the results have been mixed thus far I hope to soon become a professional sports gambler. In other news I've finally gotten my ei (after waiting for 3 months) and will soon be purchasing a laptop. This, I assume, will increase my blogging as I need to somehow justify buying a laptop. I wonder if anyone here has any suggestions on what type of laptop I should get? So what does everyone think about Microsoft buying part of your precious Facebook? I think the guy who made it should have cashed out before it falls apart.

I'll Tell You What I Want! What I Really, Really Want!

Speaking of the Spice Girls' "The Return of the Spice Girls" reunion tour (thanks for the lee-way, Luke!), I am pleased to announce that a Mr. Jordan Harvey (Matthew's cousin) and I will be enjoying ourselves immensely on February 4th, 2008! We will join the many fans at the Air Canada Centre to Spice Up Our Lives. Once again, those of you who DON'T live in Toronto have no choice but to be jealous of life here (*cough*movetoToronto*cough*).
Watch THIS space for totally awesome pictures...
Oh, and if anyone's interested in the new single, "Headlines", and the Greatest Hits album (c'mon, I KNOW you are!): the single's out now and the GH album is out Nov. 13 in Canada. The Spice Girls

Old and Busted, meet...New Hotness
[Old & Busted, w/yellow house "cameo"]It will surely come as a surprise to some (especially those who forgot —again— that I ever had an automobile), that there's interesting news on the Texas transportation front: the blue beast= gone.
Sold to a Mexican mechanic's sister for the price of 2 tickets to the Spice Girls' reunion tour, after massive brake failure (not while driving), I was pleased to get such a fee for the beast that transported Nina & myself down the Eastern Seaboard to its southern retirement in Central Texas. This Snow-bird has flown the coop.
(whoa, wait, less than those tickets.)
After, oh, about a month of searching, and a small-business loan from the bank of mom+pops, I've come across its replacement. Enter The Red Baron:
[New Hotness]A '99 TDI (YES, it's a DIESEL, folks...), I got it on Ebay (scary!), from a guy in dallas who then drove it down to A-town. Nice! Lucky for me, it was a no-reserve auction, and I (by which i mean my parents) got it for a very low price. . .at a time when TDIs are selling for 2-3000$ above blue book!
So, as soon as I resuscitate my ersatz manhood, (no flower-holder included, *ahem*) I'm planning on putting Biodiesel fuel in the Baron... the real reason I'm down w/ the beetle. (that, and 45 mpg!).
Let me conclude with this final thought, loaned from Phil:
MEGA ROADTRIPS!!!!!

Flight of the Conchords
If any of you fools are in the know, you've seen this show and know what I'm talking about. Flight of the Conchords is a HBO show about two New Zealanders living in NYC and who play in a band. It's very very funny. Perhaps Tom and Jill will come under public scrutiny and face possible legal problems for watching a show with a New Zealand flavor, so tell your friends you're watching Muriel's Wedding instead. It's funny as shit, here's a clip to wet your appetite.

D-list Sighting! (When "D" is for Degrassi)
"Wake up in the morning,
Feeling kinda lonely,
Gee, I gotta go to school!"
Fools! Another reason to be livin' in da big T.O. Philip and I were having a lovely afternoon Autumn walk through Trinity-Bellwoods park when we came across...dunh Dunh DUNH! None other than Lucy, from the original Degrassi series. Yes, people, read it and weep. She's exactly the same in real life and seems to have an active social life at the kiddy park.
Please try not to be too jealous.

WTF?
...my and nina's reaction to this news thismorning:
Al Gore wins the Nobel Peace Prize
2 things: 1) I can't think who should have won the prize, but I mean...it's a peace prize, right? not the 'do-gooders' award. Isn't it supposed to be someone super obscure from a some random (eastern european/African) nation?
At least he has to split it with these guys.
2) Gotta get started on my Powerpoint, man.

P.S. who knew that Lester B. Pearson won a Nobel? thanks, Wiked-pedia.
Whatever man, it's all good. Al Gore 4 Life!

To be and make a cameo
Recent discussion on Jill's brill' post has left the huddling world in a linguistic quandry: do I make cameos? Am I a cameo? and what is this camio of which J-bird writes and luke--perhaps too readily and certainly too dismissively--interprets as a cameo?
Cameo: a piece of jewellry, usually oval in shape, consisting of a portrait in profile carved in relief.
Eg.
For humbler, hungrier huddlers, you might recognise it here:

J-bird was in fact talking about CAMIO, the catelogue of art museum images online. Luke should be forgiven for his gaffe as j-bird didn't cap it.
As for the other cameo, the one I excel at making (although my jewel-making and relief-sculpting is also topshelf), it can be seen done in luke's profile picture. Think Rob van Winkle in TMNT 2.
Ps I've seen the ol' nintendo ds has released a zelda game... so I'm guessing jake won't be reading this clarification anytime soon...

in rainbows?

Radiohead, the ever-important band (who's very due for a new, very-solid record *fingers-crossed*) is releasing a new record—and it's not coming early next year as predicted. Instead, you can download it here on October 10th. Best of all... you pay what you want. Fascinating economic model, I'd say. So, I'll pay for a radiohead album...maybe only 5 bucks (Canadian, hahah), but if it's amazing i could be persuaded to shell out some more.
tight! see ya later, record companies! :)

The pictures here from Chris Jordan>linked from Radiohead's website. Sick stuff from New Orleans & elsewhere.
