Summer Shirts

are hilarious. Ms Nina leaves to escort 36 small humans to Europe for about 3 weeks, this Wed., and in the meantime, she's picked up a few new summer travel clothes.

This, obviously, is my favourite example.

p.s. it's summer here now (good timing, cause Cassidy & my rents just left). Notice the hibiscus flowering in the bottom right, and sweet Panamanian hammock-swing (recently installed). Oh the marvels of visiting Austin, Texas....

Lazy Sundays + Hey Rosetta!

If you're bored today, you might check out the Vinyl Cafe. It's past its broadcast time in Canada, but America is picking up the slack.

At 4pm Seattle time, click here. That's 8:30 pm NL time, 6pm here in south texas.

Hey Rosetta! is one of the musical guests, so I kinda gotta check it.

What's everyone else up to today?

Sane Leadership

Found while silversurfing the information superhighway:

http://www.cacdenver.org/Pastors/PWM/2004/AuthoritarianismVersusTotalitarianism.html

Golda Meier, Margaret Thatcher, and Jeane Kirkpatrick were three of the finest examples of sane leadership in modern history. Though reluctant to endorse women in leadership, I must admit that these ladies distinguished their gender.

Good to see forward progress on the right... john howard be advised!

Where I'm To

Well I was going to just doctor up my own shitty map using paint, but when I went to google maps, I found out that you can make your own map really easily. I've spent surprisingly little time with Gmaps, but I'm quite impressed with what I've seen. I've included the link below to the map that roughly shows where I am. If you click the legend items to the left they will be highlighted on the image. So basically... I'm in the middle of nowhere. http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?f=q&hl=en&num=10&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=101915328997973741071.00000112ac13592826f69&t=h&om=1&ll=49.032466,-56.560364&spn=0.878766,2.554321&z=9

This feature is very easy to use, so I recommend other huddlers make use of it when describing a trip or showing other people where exactly you are living. Check it out.
The camp where I am staying is quite comfortable. We have internet (obviously), satellite tv, running water, laundry facilities, a full time cooking staff, and comfortable little cabins to sleep in. All in all the job is going well. I'm hoping to get home soon for a week break, but it is hard to organize. I definitely have the weddings off, so that's the main thing.

Where is everybody else right now? And when exactly are the dates they are coming home? Jill, Matthew, Luke, and Nina are the ones I'm thinking about. Everybody else has already said I think.

Anyways, thought I'd post this in response to Cory's bitching.... but I agree people have been slack lately with the posts. Keep it real for realz.

Say it ain't so

I haven't checked this in almost a week due to my lack of a computer and there's barely been anything new added. I hope it's because you've all been injured in some way and can no longer post and not because you're all on motherfucking facebook. Anyway I just got a ps3, it's pretty sweet but I haven't really had a chance to use it much yet. With no more late fees renting a game at Blockbuster is completely impossible and Jumbo still doesn't carry any ps3, wii or 360 games, the 360 has been out for well over a year and a half. I had to rent a game at Rogers Video, the guy who worked there had the biggest gold chain, bracelet and ring I've ever seen in person.

damn it's hot up in this piece

hey guys, standing in the middle of Athens, Greece, using some free internet kiosk we found looking for an internet cafe, just saveed myself 3 euro. trip is going well, just finished up a week long cruise of some greek islands this morning, during which I rode a donkey down a cliff in Santorini. It was pretty awesome and there was definately as much donkey shit as you're imagining when reading that sentence. I'm getting tired of people trying to seel me handbags, fake sunglasses and evverythign else though, so Malta will be a treat. We even went to Turkey and took in my first Turkish leather fashion shoe. It was everything I'd dreamed it to be. the bazaar in Turkey is hilarious, you are like a big juicy porkchop in a den of lions. No masturbating stories to pass on unfortunately, but hey, there's still 12 days left until I return to Canada. I'll keep my eyes peeled. peace I'm out.

To-DAY is THE DAY!

I graduate tomorrow. The ceremony is at Strahan Coliseum at 7pm. Drinks will be consumed post-ceremonius. Many rounds will be on the newly endoctrinated "Bachelor." Hopefully many rounds will be bought for said Bachelor in return!

So, the gang's all here: Mom, Dad, Cass (Josh is prepping for his own grad next week), as well as a number of cousins, Aunts, family friends, drinking partners, and other partners in crime. All that's missing down here is my fellow Huddlers *tears*.

Not sure what's next, but why don't y'all take this time to
1) Offer me some advice on what to do and not do during and after the grad ceremony, and/or
2) Impart some kindly advice for the life of Bachelorhood, possibly scouring the internet for interesting quotes, etc. etc.

Gracias-

SWT- 4 Eva!

Birth of "I'm Lostie 1"

Alternate title:
Between Bathos and Eudaimonia: The sociological imaginary of I'm Lostie 1

Behold! the earth shakes, a new conceptual titan is born!

Note one: I received several personal correspondences on an earlier hudd'. These were to the effect that my first and profound insight into the shadow-world of fanposting rent a hoary seam in the fabric of most people's feeble cerebral cortexes. Such comments fell into one of two groupings: the first group saw the death mask of the universe in the grasping comments of those lovable lost fans; the second group quickly identified a pressing need to keep open this porthole into the strange and mystical social imaginary of lostfandom. Since I am nothing if not servile, and also seeing as I fall into both groups, I've decided to act on these many urgings and present to our little huddle the birth of a new lost message board poster-- none other than the brilliantly disguised author of THIS post.

Behold! the earth shakes, a new conceptual titan is born!

Australian lostfans already know him well, but witness the pure exuberance of a provateur-poster named I'm Lostie 1--

Thesis: ImL1 is a wonderful creation expressing the pure joy of being in the world.
Thesis: ImL1 is despressing in every way...

Mirren declines dinner with the Queen

As this was what we were discussing back in March when we had the Great West Coast Huddle, turns out the Queen *did* want to meet with Helen Mirren:

I still don't know what "Jump the Shark" means, but Spiderman 3 just did it.

What happened? Spiderman 2 was brilliant, and I was pretty sure they had it all sown up now- just tee that shit up, and kick it through the goal for #3.

But no- the audience couldn't decide if it was hilarious because it was completely ludicrous, or because it was genuinely funny. The brilliant musical montage in #2 gets traded in for Tobey Maguire's best Bright Eyes impersonation, and a scene stolen out of the mask.
At one point, we, the audience, had a 'communal laugh' at the movie. WTF?

Occasionally brilliant, but with the exception of the last half-hour, completely messed up. If you saw it this weekend, you know what I mean.

My only theory that could redeem it is that the entire film is an elaborate allegory for our current political situation. And if that's the case, I can't figure out if Dick Cheney is Sandman or Aunt May.

...i fuck my wife twice

hey peeps, i'm sitting here in paris at our hostel trying to hammer out decent grammer on this french keyboard. london was great, part of the winning quiz team on our 1st english pub quiz nite, saw the tourist stuff, watched a guy being restrained by the coppers after trying to jump off london bridge. paris is cool, very expensive though. julia and i took in an amazing sex show last nite, except replace "amazing sex show" with "homeless man masturbating on the bus". it was hot. off to greece tomorrow for a week, then malta for two weeks, then back to reality and the job hunt. anyone have any empolyment leads? funny story regarding my title that involves a man who is a little mentally off-kilter, the london tube, and a nintendo ds. peace i'm outta here.
